This is a contemporary piece that I saw in a magazine and liked, so I painted my own!   It’s fun to do.  However, you can’t sell such a painting unless you have approval from the artist who has rights to the image.

Every month our local community magazine, Natomas magazine, has a painting on the cover and a one page writeup on the artist inside. I was fortunate enough to be on the cover of the magazine this month. To view the article click here. To view the magazine website with the cover, click here. They only used a portion of the complete painting. To view the complete painting, click here. The magazine recently had there annual cover artists show. I sold the piece Roman lights at the show! I also had an interesting talk with man who works for the printing press. This painting was a commissioned piece. The magazine borrowed the painting to scan it at the printing company who does their covers. The man who scanned it told me about his ability to see colors when he’s playing the piano and hits certain chords or combination of notes. He said when he hits the most beautiful chords, he sees the color orange. However, he’s not in particular an art lover, but he did like the dragonfly painting because of the oranges and greens. He also said the owner of the company thought it was the best print they’d ever printed and sent two hundred copies to Italy and Germany. Who knows what may come of this?
